My Blog - In The Community

Litter PickingIn my job at McDonald's, I do a lot more than brush and mop a floor. I try to help a lot in community activities

It all started back in 2009 when our then manager Angeline got involved with a lady in the community called Nora Williams who was involved in Keep Wales Tidy with her group 'Castle Kids'. Basically every month I would go out on a litter pick with Nora and the kids and we would then return to the store where the kids would have something to eat.

In 2012, despite two changes of store manager since then, it's still going strong. New store manager Steve Harrison has kept the strong links with Nora and Castle Kids and we're continuing our monthly litter picks around the streets of Flint.

Last Thursday we had our latest litter pick. We were joined, as ever by the local police community support officer Jason and with ten kids, myself, Nora and other adult helpers we filled two bin bags full of litter.

It's got me thinking that Connah's Quay, a town which obviously I have a great love for, could also do with some litter picking!

Nora has already provided me with the tools and I'm sure Steve will let me take a couple of bin bags too. It's time we got our local communities looking clean. Flint in well on the way thanks to Steve, Nora and all of Castle Kids,
