My Blog - The Spanish Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel in the Red BullWell here we go folks, it's the European season of Formula One, and one step closer to Silverstone and the British Grand Prix

But this weekend the F1 Circus is in Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix and who is looking hot or who is not?

After his 2011-esque dominant victory in Bahrain, the favourite for the race here for me is Sebastian Vettel, fastest in this mornings third free practice. He hooked up his final sector perfectly to edge out Williams driver Pastor Maldonado and for me that's a nice surprise. It'd be lovely to see Williams for up there in qualifying the race, putting their 2011 demons to bed.

But what of McLaren? It's surprising to see how much pace they've lost in just two races. They're really struggling on the harder of the two Pirelli tyre compounds but Jenson's pace on the softer tyres yesterday looked good. They were both badly held up in this mornings practice so their true pace is disguised.

Other ones to watch out include both Lotus drivers and Mercedes and will Ferrari's updates work and bring Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa near the front?

Only way to find out is to watch! BBC One HD LIVE today at 12.10 for qualifying and tomorrow at mid day for the race. It'll be electric, and with brilliant commentary from Ben Edwards no doubt.
